Ganesha Mangalastakam in Telugu

Story behind Writing Ganesha Managalastakam:

Ganesha Mangalashtakam is a hymn of eight verses composed in praise of Lord Ganesha, who is revered as the remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings. The author of this hymn is believed to be the renowned Hindu saint and philosopher, Adi Shankaracharya.

According to the legend, Adi Shankaracharya was once travelling through a dense forest, and he was stopped by an enormous and fierce elephant. The elephant appeared to be blocking the path, and Adi Shankaracharya realized that it was no ordinary elephant but the divine form of Lord Ganesha himself. Adi Shankaracharya then composed the Ganesha Mangalashtakam to pay homage to Lord Ganesha and seek his blessings.

Each verse of the hymn describes the various aspects and attributes of Lord Ganesha, and the prayers seek his grace and blessings for the welfare of all beings. The hymn concludes with an invocation to Lord Ganesha to remove all obstacles, dispel all fears, and grant peace, prosperity, and happiness to all.

Over time, the Ganesha Mangalashtakam has become a popular prayer among devotees of Lord Ganesha, and it is often recited during auspicious occasions and festivals, especially during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

గజాననాయ గాంగేయసహజాయ సదాత్మనే |
గౌరీప్రియ తనూజాయ గణేశాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 1 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-faced one, who is the son of Goddess Gauri, who is ever present and of a peaceful nature and who is also the natural companion of Lord Shiva."

నాగయజ్ఞోపవీదాయ నతవిఘ్నవినాశినే |
నంద్యాది గణనాథాయ నాయకాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 2 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganapathi, who is worshipped during the Nagayagna and who destroys all obstacles. Salutations to the leader of the group of divine attendants of Lord Shiva, who is also known as Nandhi. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us

ఇభవక్త్రాయ చేంద్రాది వందితాయ చిదాత్మనే |
ఈశానప్రేమపాత్రాయ నాయకాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 3 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganapathi, whose face is like an elephant, who is worshipped by the moon and other celestial beings, and who is of the nature of consciousness. Salutations to the one who is dear to Lord Shiva and who is the object of his love. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us.

సుముఖాయ సుశుండాగ్రాత్-క్షిప్తామృతఘటాయ చ |
సురబృంద నిషేవ్యాయ చేష్టదాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 4 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganapathi, who has a beautiful face and who holds a vessel filled with nectar in his trunk. Salutations to the one who is worshipped by the group of celestial beings and who is always engaged in action. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us.

చతుర్భుజాయ చంద్రార్ధవిలసన్మస్తకాయ చ |
చరణావనతానంతతారణాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 5 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganapathi, who has four arms, whose forehead glows with the light of the crescent moon, and whose feet are worshipped by the endless ocean. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us.

వక్రతుండాయ వటవే వన్యాయ వరదాయ చ |
విరూపాక్ష సుతాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 6 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganapathi, who has a curved trunk, who resides in the banyan tree, who bestows blessings upon his devotees, and who is the son of Lord Shiva with unusual eyes. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us

ప్రమోదమోదరూపాయ సిద్ధివిజ్ఞానరూపిణే |
ప్రకృష్టా పాపనాశాయ ఫలదాయాస్తు మంగళమ్ ‖ 7 ‖

Salutations to Lord Ganesha, who embodies the essence of joy and happiness, who is the embodiment of success and knowledge, who is excellent at destroying sins, and who is the giver of rewards. May he bestow auspiciousness upon us.

మంగళం గణనాథాయ మంగళం హరసూననే |
మంగళం విఘ్నరాజాయ విఘహర్త్రేస్తు మంగళం ‖ 8 ‖

May there be auspiciousness to the Lord of multitudes, auspiciousness to the destroyer of obstacles, auspiciousness to the king of obstacles, and auspiciousness to the remover of obstacles

శ్లోకాష్టకమిదం పుణ్యం మంగళప్రద మాదరాత్ |
పఠితవ్యం ప్రయత్నేన సర్వవిఘ్ననివృత్తయే ‖

This hymn, which is auspicious and capable of giving blessings, should be read with great effort to remove all obstacles
