Story behind Sankata Nashana Ganesha Stotram:


The story behind writing the Sankata Nashana Ganesha Stotram is mentioned in the Narada Purana. The story goes like this:

Once, sage Narada visited Lord Vishnu and found him in a thoughtful mood. When Narada asked the reason behind Vishnu's melancholy, he said that he was thinking about how to relieve humanity from the troubles and sufferings caused by the evil forces.

Narada advised Lord Vishnu to worship Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Following the advice, Lord Vishnu chanted the Sankata Nashana Ganesha Stotram and was blessed with a vision of Lord Ganesha. Lord Ganesha then granted Vishnu the knowledge to create a powerful hymn that would destroy all the obstacles and sufferings of humanity.

Lord Vishnu then requested sage Narada to write down the Sankata Nashana Ganesha Stotram for the benefit of all. Sage Narada complied with the request and wrote the stotram in the Narada Purana. It is believed that chanting this stotram with devotion can help to remove all the obstacles and troubles in life and bring prosperity and happiness.


సంకటనాశన గణేశస్తోత్రమ్:


నారదౌవాచ :
ప్రణమ్య శిరసా దేవం , గౌరీపుత్రం వినాయకమ్,
భక్తావాసం స్మరేన్నిత్యం, ఆయుఃకామార్థసిద్ధయే.

"I bow down to Lord Ganesha, the son of Gauri (Parvati),
who is the abode of devotees. I remember him daily for the fulfillment of my wishes and for longevity."

ప్రథమం వక్రతుండం చ, ఏకదంతం ద్వితీయకమ్,
తృతీయం కృష్ణపింగాక్షం, గజవక్త్రం చతుర్థకమ్.

"I worship the first one, Vakratunda (curved trunk),
the second one, Ekadanta (one tusk),
the third one, Krishna Pingaksha (black and red-eyed),
and the fourth one, Gajavaktra (elephant-faced)."

లంబోదరం పంచమం చ, షష్ఠం వికటమేవ చ,
సప్తమం విఘ్నరాజం చ, ధూమ్రవర్ణం తథాష్టమమ్.

"I worship the one with a large belly, Lambodara (pot-bellied),
the fifth one, Panchama (five-faced),
the sixth one, Vikata (unusual appearance),
the seventh one, Vighnaraja (lord of obstacles),
the eighth one, Dhoomravarna (smoke-colored)."

నవమం ఫాలచంద్రం చ, దశమం తు వినాయకమ్,
ఏకాదశం గణపతిం, ద్వాదశం తు గజాననమ్.

"I worship the ninth one, Phalachandra (moon with a fruit-like glow),
the tenth one, Vinayaka (remover of obstacles),
the eleventh one, Ganapati (leader of the ganas or attendants of Lord Shiva),
and the twelfth one, Gajanana (elephant-faced)."

ద్వాదశ ఈతాని నామాని, త్రిసంధ్యం యః పఠేన్నరః,
న చ విఘ్నభయం తస్య, సర్వసిద్ధికారకం ప్రభో !

"O Lord, if a person recites these twelve names three times a day during the three sandhyas (dawn, noon and dusk),
he will not have any fear of obstacles and all his desires will be fulfilled."

విద్యార్థీ లభతే విద్యాం, దనార్థీ లభతే ధనమ్,
పుత్రార్థీ లభతే పుత్రాన్, మోక్షార్థీ లభతే గతిమ్.

"A student obtains knowledge, a seeker attains wealth, a person desiring a child is blessed with a child, and a seeker of liberation attains liberation."

జపేత్ గణపతిస్తోత్రం, షడ్భిర్మాసైః ఫలం లభేత్,
సంవత్సరేణ సిద్ధిం చ, లభతే నాత్ర సంశయః.

By reciting the Ganapati Stotram for six months, one can attain the desired results. And within a year, one can achieve success without any doubt.

అష్టభ్యో బ్రాహ్మణేభ్యశ్చ, లిఖిత్వా యః సమర్పయేత్,
తస్య విద్యా భవేత్ సర్వా, గణేశస్య ప్రసాదతః

"One who writes and dedicates it to eight Brahmins, all his knowledge is blessed by Lord Ganesh."

ఇతి శ్రీ నారదపురాణే సంకటనాశన గణేశస్తోత్రం సంపూర్ణమ్.
