Ganesh Chaturthi- Lord Ganesha Story
Once there lived a demon named Gajasura, practised extreme penance to lord Shiva to grant him a wish that Lord Shiva Must reside in his stomach also world must remember him after his death. The easily pleased Shiva, granted him what he wished for. Eventually lord's disappearance worried goddess Parvati, as she went to lord Vishnu, in search of her husband. Lord Vishnu, knowing the reason behind disappearance of lord shiva, assured her to get her behalf back.
Lord Vishnu in order to get back lord shiva from Gajasura took the form of flutist, and Nandi took the form of dancing bull acted a play. To their performance Gajasura was much impressed and asked for what they want. Lord Vishnu, in disguise of flutist, asked to get Shiva out of his stomach. Gajasura knowing that flutist was non other than lord Vishnu, immediately liberated lord shiva from his stomach.
Knowing the return of lord shiva goddess Parvati felt happy and went to take a shower.meanwhile She made a doll of boy and gave it life to safe guard Mount Kailsa. When Lord shiva returned kailsa, this little boy stopped him from entering Kailsa. After a serious argument between lord shiva and the little boy, the lord killed the boy cutting his head.
When Parvati returned, she broke into tears and informed what had happened. He then remembered the boon sanctioned to Gajasura,. He then sent Nandi to kill Gajasura and bring his head.
As said Gajasura,'s head was brought to kailasa. In the presence of lord shiva, Vishnu, Brahma and many other gods, Boy's head replaced with elephant head. In addition to that lord shiva offered him the name "Ganapathi", remover of obstacles. "Vinayaka", Lord of Beginings This Is why We worship Lord Ganesha First in every Occasion.
Let us Chant this sloka remembering the great Lord Ganesha.
"Vakra thunda Mahaakaaya
Suryakoti Samaprabha
nirvignam Kurume deva
sarva Karyeshu Sarvada"
