Narasimha Shathakam 

Story Behind Narasimha Shatakam:

The Narasimha Shatakam is a powerful hymn dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The story behind the Narasimha Shatakam is rooted in Hindu mythology.

According to the legend, there was a demon king named Hiranyakashipu who was granted a boon by Lord Brahma, which made him almost invincible. The boon made Hiranyakashipu arrogant and he believed that he was the most powerful being in the universe. However, his son Prahlada was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and refused to worship his father as a god. This enraged Hiranyakashipu and he tried to kill his son several times, but each time Lord Vishnu saved him.

Finally, Hiranyakashipu challenged Lord Vishnu to appear before him in the form of a man-lion (Narasimha) to prove his power. Lord Vishnu accepted the challenge and appeared as Narasimha, a fierce creature with the head of a lion and body of a man. He then killed Hiranyakashipu with his bare hands, at the threshold of his palace, thus fulfilling the boon granted to the demon king by Lord Brahma.

The Narasimha Shatakam was composed by the 8th-century philosopher and saint Adi Shankaracharya in praise of Lord Narasimha, as a way of showing gratitude and reverence for his divine form. The hymn is considered to be one of the most powerful prayers in Hinduism and is believed to offer protection from all kinds of negativity and harm.

"Ayurarogya" (health and longevity) is the objective, "Trartha sampadalu" (wealth for noble causes) is the burden, "Chaduvu lessaga" (humility in learning) is the foremost quality, "Kar mondinchadi" (doing one's duty) is the characteristic of a noble person, "Nadaka manchidi petti" (leading a righteous life) is the goal, "Peru rappinchadi" (earning a good name) is the achievement, "Baluvaina vairagyam" (strong detachment) is the attainment of devotion and knowledge, "Mukti bondinchedu" (achieving liberation) is the divine abode.

In it, tell humans to avoid worthless people, enlighten them by eradicating evil, and dwell in the prosperity of ornamentation, Shri Dharma, the abode of ancient times, the destroyer of wickedness, and Narasimha, the dispeller of misery.
