Story behind Writing Hanuman Astottara Shata Naamaavali :
Hanuman Astottara Shata Naamavali is a devotional hymn that consists of 108 names of Lord Hanuman. This hymn is recited by devotees to praise and seek blessings from Lord Hanuman.
There are various stories behind the writing of this hymn. One of the most popular stories is that when Lord Hanuman was injured in the battle with Ravana's army, Lord Rama applied a medicinal herb on his wounds. As a result, Lord Hanuman started feeling immense pleasure and began rolling on the ground. To pacify him, Lord Rama started reciting the 108 names of Hanuman. Pleased with Lord Rama's devotion, Lord Hanuman blessed him and said that these names would be known as the Hanuman Astottara Shata Naamavali.
Another popular story states that when Lord Hanuman was a child, he had once asked his mother Anjana about his name.
